Literature Text

Changing, are the seasons
Seasons of my mind
But I still won't let go
Those who have made a place
A place here in my heart
I'm still not ready to let them go
I don't want to reach out
Reach out to anyone new
I'd rather drown myself in an abyss of memories
Now, I'm on a mission
A mission to recover something lost
But never did I expect for it to lead me to you

Distant, so it seems
But there is something closely linked here
Reclusive, we may be
But that hasn't hindered us from reaching out
Oceans, breached between
Must I swim across the seas in order to reach you?
Mirrored, are you me?
Are you the other half of the cosmic star I once was?

There's been something eluding me for an eternity
Virtues within myself that were never reflected
Now that I've found this mirror that completes me
Why does it seem so beyond my reach?

Singing, dancing, brushing, sleeping
Everything I do, I visualize as you
Every night, as I lay in bed,
I give into my desires for you
I absorb myself in thoughts of what can be,
of what I want, what I need it to be

Does this distance that's so beyond our reach give us room to breathe?
No, I'd much rather suffocate myself against your chest
Within your arms
Wrapped around my fragile mind
Be gentle, my star, for I burn easy
But something tells me that you're the one with the perfect touch
Yet, I cannot test this theory when we are so out of reach

So, will you meet me halfway?
I sail the seas, whilst you march across the land?
That's fair, right?
Or are we just too beyond reach?
A poem written about someone I met last year, following a trail after failing to find an old friend/flame.
Despite the feelings of connection and longing that I've resonated for her,
the distance, among a few unmentioned details, have indeed impeded my intended progress on getting to know her.
We still talk sometime, but that flame is but just an ember, lest someone were to throw some fuel onto it...

P.S. The title is a reference to one of my favorite songs by Curve.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYze0L…
The actual meaning of said song having no connection to this poem whatsoever.

I appreciate any insightful comments, or even a simple compliment.
Please be very constructive and detailed with any criticism.
Thank you for reading.

"I'd rather drown myself in an abyss of memories"  You have no idea how much I also reflect that, so very much...   Very beautifully written, I love it so much. ^^
